Time To Dance
improvisations,
sketches
It
is an informal
event, running regularly since
the end of
2005.
It is focused on works in progress, dance improvisation
and contact improvisation. The space is open to any
experiment, which develops contemporary dance and its
connection with other art forms. We hope that the events
inspire artists for new creations, which later will be
possible to see on professional stages.
The
event has three parts:
-
stage improvisations, works in progress.
Everyone is welcome to
join who wants to share their ideas about
improvisation or contactimprovisation. Collaboration
between dance and other art forms ( music, poetry,
visual art etc ) are welcome too. The length of the
structured improv might be about 5 - 15 min
long. This is informal evening, so we do not work on
light design. Just general houselights.. Ok. if
there is special need for the famous spot - you'd
get it. But otherwise - 30 min technical rehearsal
during the day - that's what you get. The deadline
for the application is two weeks before the evening.
If you, your friend or somebody, you think would be
interested in participating with stage improv, you
are welcome to join. Just let us know, writing on
address:
horasoc@gmail.com.
Please, put a title Participating at Time
To Dance improvisations, sketches
as a subject of your mail.

Coming back to the idea of developing dance
improvisation and contact improvisation and focusing
on stage improvisations this time. Thanks to Inese
Auzina, more people follows the events of CI in
Latvia: they study, JAM, meet other CI dancers
outside home. Inese Auzina has invited friends from
neighbouhood to take part at
Time To Dance improvisations, sketches:
Ruslan Santah from Ukraine, Otto Akkanen from
Finland, Julia Melnik from Lithuania.
If there is somebody else, who would like to play
with the situation in front of audience, please let
us know by email.
Just to remind - Ruslan Santah ( Ukraine ) will
teach too 1 - 3.october .
The info about the space will come soon.
23.02.2010. 19:00 - 23:00
The
economical situation does not allow the Latvian
choreographers to show their dance pieces on stage.
So, Time To Dance
improvisations,
sketches
offers the space for two premieres this time. They
will be performed in studio version but at least
audience will have the possibility to see new stuff.

Not many people
came but the night was great. Stage improvisations
presented Krista Busa and Liene Vejina - two girls from
J. Medins music school, vocal department. Their teacher
Agnese Bordjukova told a bit about their way of looking
at movement through the improvisation. Their body
language was precise as well as their voice.
Another stage improvisation
presented Aleksey Gerasimov. He was reading poetry ( his
own creation ) - extracts from the performance Strange
faces of Russian poets and creating
different images out of it.
Then audience became
participants of the evening by creating structures on a
spot - in half an hour three more improvisations were
performed giving pleasure both to the creators and
audience.
JAM was short but cool. People
did not really feel like finishing. Unfortunately our
time was limited..
Look the photos!
Anyway, we all are looking
forward for the next event what is planned on 23rd
February 2010.
Come and join!
