Levi Gonzalez (USA) at TIME TO DANCE 2014

Workshop by Levi Gonzalez (USA)

Contemporary dance technique

This workshop is an opportunity for us to take our time to create the space to fully inhabit our bodies and integrate various approaches and concepts of embodiment in our movement and artistic practice. We will begin slowly, with imagery and gentle preparation culled from various somatic traditions that access our awareness of the senses, the organs, the skeleton, the cells, gravity, and various other energetic and dynamic forces. Once this base is established, we will take this awareness into more formal technical exercises, choreographic structures (“phrases”), improvisations, and performance constructs, with a focus on precision, imagination, simplicity, directness, and the cultivation of each student’s individual approach to embodiment and to this art form.
