release technology_WIP” started out as research, as is often observed in the contemporary scene.

“We were interested in the fabric of the seemingly obvious relationship between music and dance –sound and movement… Why is it pre-destined that the two should complement each other? Does the combination of the two create a third medium for the message? It turned out these questions are not as often tackled as one would assume so we developed a way to explore the very core of the matter through a performance that is neither a contemporary dance show, nor a concert, but it is definitely live and we feel that it is an experience necessary to the current contemporary art.”

The making of “release technology”required separate work for the composer and the choreographer within the framework of one conceptual paradigm. Simultaneously, the work-in-progress was introduced to a stage designer.

At the moment the pieces of the puzzle are almost ready to be finally put on stage – one that’s beyond academical music, beyond contemporary dance, with a potential for a new kind of happening, a new kind of experience.

Sintija Silina–choreographer, dance performer, educator. She’s always had a particular interest in music –almost all of her work (pieces like The Messenger (2009), The Accompaniment (2013), and il cimento della struttura e dell’accento (2013)) features live music. Her choreography always strives for the essence and she sees dance as music, rather than theater.

Edgars Raginskis–journalist by day, pianist, academically taught composer by night –is interested in roots. Be it in the depth of traditional or on the precipice of the experimental. His original work and arrangements are always one step beyond the chasm between romanticism and crude nowness.
