Mais, par la meme, le territoire dechaine

deja quelque chose qui va le depasser.

Nous sommes toujours ramenes a ce <moment>.

Le Natal est dehors.

– Mille Plateaux –

Trying to die, I started to dance,

So, today is the day I will meet the tiger.

I cant help if he eats me.

Even I dont mind if we copulate.

We can also stab each other.

I shall jump into the empty sky,

hanging shreds of bite off flesh.

The moment I throw my body,

I grasp another form.

There is no other way to live,

as if my other self /

double bears further other doubles.

From the dying body

diverse other selves that cannot

be called but awkward

are made flutter and then scatter.

They are unevenly distributed,

flow irregularly without

distinguish the border of any one,

as if they would disappear

everywhere after catching the memory

of the unknown.

Can we, as limited process,

as ephemeral life, live an unlimited life?

(Ko Murobushi )

As a child he used to live at the coast where he had two simple experiences: there were some instances when he was close to drowning. And several times the water washed the bodies of drowned people ashore.

“While trying to die”, Ko Murobushi writes today, “I started to dance.”He grew up to become one of the most remarkable butoh dancers of our time. An artist with a special and radical approach to the Japanese “dance of darkness”. In this piece, Murobushi throws his body against himself, trying to grasp and let go of the various forms of his multiple self. An unknown, nameless dance with sudden flashes of cheerful moments every now and again.

Ko Murobushi is one of the best known and acclaimed Butoh artists in the world. He studied with Tatsumi Hijikata in 1968. Then he joined to establish the Butoh group Dairakudakan. In 1974 he created the Butoh-magazine Hageshii Kisetsu (Violent Season) and?founded a female Butoh company Ariadone and an only-male Butoh group: Sebi.?With a co-production of these two groups he brought Butoh to Europe, contributing to the recognition of Butoh in Europe: “Le Dernier Eden – Porte de l’au –delá”succeeded in Paris in 1978.

His solo productions and group production have been invited by numerous international dance festivals. In 2003, he settled his unit Ko & Edge Co and this unit presented titled Experimental Body which is searching for“Edge”in a physical way.

Ko’s latest solo performances called “Krypt”and ”Ritournelle”, his latest duo performance with the famous director and horse rider Bartabas “Le Centaure et l’animal”, lead him to world tours.

His choreographies as well as his solo performances continue to establish Ko Murobushi as one of the highest reputed representatives of Butoh, and every moment Ko challenges to reach new possibility of Butoh.
